Girl Talk with God~Bible Study Week 3

Subject: “Seek Him with your Whole Heart”
A Ministry of Ponce Church, Sundays 10AM at the Comm Ctr in Ponce

As I was preparing this weeks lesson, the Lord showed me how important it is for us to “seek” after Him. He has so much “Good” that He wants to bring into our lives, but He needs us to want Him more than anything or anyone else; He wants our WHOLE heart.  When we choose to make that decision, we are no longer limited: He is able to make what we feel is impossible, possible!

Psalm 119:1-2Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. JOYFUL are those who obey His laws (Love:Mathew 22:37-39) and search for Him with ALL their HEART”  Let ‘s stop for a moment and ask ourselves  this question: When was the last time we experienced REAL Joy or REAL Happiness? He promises in this passage that if and when we get to that place where we seek after  Him more than anything else in our lives that we will in fact be “Joyful”  meaning, we will be able to really “Enjoy” our life…

 The “Heart” is the HOME of the personal life, it is also said to be the “conscience”
 The Heart is capable of producing Good or Evil
Genesis 8:21 “…I will never again curse the ground because of the human race-even though everything they think or imagine is bent toward evil from childhood…” “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.”Mathew 12:35 “Do what is good and run from evil so that you may live!” Amos 5:14 As you can see man is capable of following evil or choosing to follow Good by seeking after God and His perfect plan.

After the fall of man “Adam & Eve” God sent his Son to reconcile us back to Him, a place where we can commune(hang out and chat with: Like a best friend, one you talk to about everything)  and have a relationship with God again, because of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. The Bible says that the only way to the Father is through Jesus. Once a person has decided to make Jesus a part of our lives, inviting Him to be our Lord & Savior,(Romans 10:8-10) they are now in a position to enjoy a loving relationship with God our Heavenly Father.

There is a spiritual enemy and his only goal is to keep you from following God and from the great blessings of God: “The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill & destroy, My (Jesus) purpose is to give them life and life more abundantly…” John 10:10 nlt/KJ
The Thief’s only purpose is to steal the word of God that has been planted in our hearts (Such as messages we hear at church, Bible studies or even reading God’s word) The Bible tells us that Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. The enemy does NOT want you learning about the Father and Jesus and he certainly does not want you having “life and life more abundantly” The thief’s plan is to keep you from obtaining Gods great blessings for your life and following His perfect plan…Mark 4:13-20 “Jesus said to them, “If you can’t understand the meaning of this parable, how will you understand all the others parables? The farmer plants seed by taking God’s word to others. (these are your pastors and teachers of God’s word) The seed that fell on the footpath represent those who hear the message, only to have Satan (he is the one that was thrown out of heaven by God because he wanted God’s power and wanted to take over heaven, the same one who tempted Adam & Eve in the garden) come at once to take it away. The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems and are persecuted for believing God’s word. v18 The seed that fell among thorns represents others who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced. And the seed that fell on good soil, represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted.”
Let me encourage you, everyone that has heard the word of God has been tempted in one or more of these areas that Jesus lists in this parable. The reason why the enemy wants to steal God’s word from your heart is that he knows how powerful it is! He knows that if we will believe with all our heart and hold onto and protect God’s word that has been planted in our hearts, that it will literally change our lives, it will build and increase faith in our God. It is also capable of inspiring us to MOVE mountains in our lives if need be. That is why the Bible says to “Guard our hearts with all diligence.” When you hear a message taught that increases your faith and hope in God, protect it! Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by worry, fear or things.

God is Always Looking: “The eyes of the Lord are always looking for those who seek Him with their “whole heart”—Their whole life-and when He finds that person He will show Himself “strong”—When we seek Him with our whole heart (with our life) He will show us how to live a life filled with His Joy, Peace, Health and abundance in all things.

“Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness (God’s plan and purpose) for they shall be filled” Mathew 5:6 Seeking things and people will only leave us feeling empty.  You know how you feel when you’re hungering or craving steak, chicken or even chocolate cake (you get my meaning) and you will not rest until you actually GET what you’re hungering for?  Well, the above scripture is showing us that when we HUNGER (seeking him with our whole heart) after God, we will be filled inside, which means there will be NO wanting or lacking of any kind, in any area of our life. People and things cannot provide a rich and satisfying life…this kind of life can only come from the Father. (Sin is pleasurable only for a season) which means our way of doing things can only produce pleasure for a very short time.

So How do we put Him FIRST: Seeking His plan for our Lives?:
PRAY! “Lord teach us to Pray…Jesus said, “This is how you should pray: “Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come, may your will be done. Give us each day the food we need, and forgive us our sins as wee forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation” Another scripture says, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened, for everyone who asks receive, and to him that seeks, finds, and to those that knock, the door shall be opened” Luke 11:5-10 When we pray, we want God’s will for our lives, that is why Jesus taught the disciples this prayer so that we would see the importance of God’s will.

As you become more comfortable in your relationship with God you will begin to pray by talking to Him from your heart regarding things and situations that pertain to your life.

As you begin seeking after the Lord with all your heart and praying to your Heavenly Father, He wants you to be confident that He hears you: “The eyes of the Lord are upon the Righteous (those who have chosen God and Jesus) and His ears are OPEN to their cry” Psalm 34:15

I encourage you to take time and read these Bible teachings more than once…each time you read and study on your own, the MORE you will get out of it. Even write some of these scriptures on a sticky note and put it where you’ll see it the most. You’ll be amazed at how much His word will make an impact on your life.

Week 4

A New and Better Life

Ponce Church Womens Bible Study~March 2011

John 1:1-18 “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.

V4 The Word gave Life to everything that was created, and His Life brought Light to everyone. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

V6 God sent a man, John the Baptist to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. The One who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.v10He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to ALL who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. V13 They are reborn-not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”

2Cor 5:17 puts it this way: “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a NEW person. The old life is gone; a NEW Life has begun!” 2Cor 5:14,15 also says,“Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his NEW Life, will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.”

When we make the decision to accept His Son Jesus and allow Him to become part of our lives, we no longer see or think of him from a human point of view. We begin to really “know” Him on a personal level. How? Because just as the book of John says, when we believed in Jesus, the Son of the Living God and accepted Him, He gave us the “right” to become “Children of God” This changes everything! You now have God’s very Spirit living on the inside of you! This is a miracle, How? Because it is the SAME Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead, and that Spirit is on the inside of you.
What Does that Mean? You now have a NEW life and with God’s Spirit living on the inside of you. You now have “Faith” It is the SAME Faith that Jesus himself operated in while living as a man on the earth and in His teachings he says that this kind of faith can accomplish ANYTHING, “All things are possible to them that believe” Mark 9:23 Jesus also says, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain ‘may you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will obey you. You can PRAY FOR ANYTHING, and if you have FAITH, you WILL receive it” Mathew 21:21 nlt

He promises that when we pray or talk to Him he hears us and answers us. Your Lord God also promises a peace that the world nor the things of this world can give.

As a “child of the living God” you now have a hope and a knowing that when we leave this earth we will go and be with God our heavenly Father. We are now under His protection “nothing shall by any means hurt you”

THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS: Now that you have received forgiveness for your sins, now that you’ve received the power of His mercy and Grace you have His Spirit inside of you which gives you the ability to forgive others. This “forgiveness” has the power to set you free from the pain brought about by others that have hurt you.

This NEW life that has been given to you can help you to be FREE from living in fear: “For God has not given us the Spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind” 2Tim 1:7 KJ

We also have his nature living on the inside of us, they are what the Bible calls “fruit of the Spirit” and these fruits are as follows: “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. There is no law against these things!” The scriptures go on to say that we have the “ability” to take advantage of these “fruits” and allow them to be a part of our lives by saying, “Since we are living in the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives” Galatians 5:22, 23 & verse 25 nlt
These fruits of the Spirit are a choice! God does not force His way, His nature upon us, He will however nudge us in the right direction. He will even speak to us individually, especially if we are not allowing these fruits to be a part of our lives. There have been MANY times (even now) in my life when the Lord says, “Nina, you’re not walking in Love here” or “be kind” etc. He cannot make you/me Love and be patient like He is, but He will always encourage us, even speak to us during the times when we need to allow His nature (fruits) to take presidence in our lives. And it is ALWAYS wise for us to listen to His leading even His correction. The scriptures say, “The Lord corrects those He loves”

It is also wisdom to wrap our minds around the amazing TRUTH that Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of His dear Son. Jesus (because of his death, burial and resurrection) purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.” Col 1:11

Christ is Supreme:Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation. For through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him (Jesus) God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.” Let me stop us here for a moment, let’s look at that scripture again, “and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault…
WOW!! This my friend is the AMAZING loving GRACE of God!! When you receive Him, by believing in Jesus Christ with your whole heart and ask Him to forgive you of all you’ve done wrong, he NO LONGER looks at your faults, He cannot see them anymore, HOW? Jesus blood that he shed for us WASHED away all our sins…because of this AMAZING GRACE we no longer stand before him with faults, it’s as if we’ve been given a “clean slate” His word also says that he NO LONGER remembers our sins, Thank You God!! Now lets continue, “BUT you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News…” Col 1:15-23

As you think about this weeks teachings, keep in mind, (write it down and stick it on your bathroom mirror if need be) that “You are now a child of God…He loves you…He no longer remembers your sins…He has given you “faith” faith that is powerful enough to move mountains in your life. He has set you free from the agony of fear! Because He has given you a ‘clean slate’ He is requiring you to do the same for others, forgive and move on!” You now have a NEW LIFE in Christ Jesus! Give thanks to God every day for His great love and mercy.
